Recent Judicial Appointments

Gov. Sonny Perdue has been busy filling judicial vacancies this summer. Recent superior court appointments include:

On June 29, 2010, Judge Stephen D. Kelley, Brunswick Judicial Circuit; Judge Shawn LaGrua, Atlanta Judicial Circuit; and Judge W. Kendall Wynne, Jr., Alocvy Judicial Circuit were sworn-in. On July 15, 2010, Judge Amanda Mercier, Appalachian Judicial Circuit was sworn-in.

Perdue has named Judge William C. Rumer to the Chattahoochee Judical Circuit bench; Judge W. Fletcher Sams and Judge Richard M. Crawford to the bench in the Griffin Judicial Circuit; and Judge Reuben Green to the Cobb Judicial Circuit bench. Swearing-in dates have not been announced for these appointments.

Recent state court appointments include:

Judge Allen Dee Morris, State Court of Cherokee County, and Judge Aaron Mason, State Court of Clayton County, were sworn-in on August 12. On August 16, Judge John Flythe, State Court of Richmond County, and Judge Jeffery L. Arnold, State Court of Long County, were sworn-in. Judge James Edward Barker, State Court of Douglas County, was sworn-in on August 19.

Other recent appointments include: Judge Carl Bowers, Division I, State Court of Cobb County; Judge Eric A. Brewton, Division II, State Court of Cobb County; Judge Dax E. Lopez, State Court of DeKalb County; Judge Steven Campbell, State Court of Habersham County; and Judge Carla W. McMillian, State Court of Fayette County. Swearing-in dates have not been announced for these appointments.
